Biography
Azlan is a Local Principal at Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow in Singapore. He specializes in complex, cross-border M&A transactions and Joint Ventures in the Energy, Natural Resources, Major Infrastructure, Digital Infrastructure and Healthcare sectors.
Azlan is highly regarded by his clients and has more than 13 years of experience advising clients navigate complex regulatory regimes, advise on deal structuring, and drafting and negotiating their transaction documents.
He has previously been seconded in-house to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and AMP Capital, assisting each with their energy and infrastructure transactions. These experiences have made Azlan remain always steadily focused on the commercial objectives of the client.
He has previously worked for top-tier international firms across Sydney, London and Singapore, and is fluent in English, Bahasa Melayu and conversational Bahasa Indonesian.

- Advised Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on its investment arrangements with PT Akuo Energy to develop a renewable energy portfolio in Indonesia.
- Advised Vale Canada Limited in its 14% stake sale to Indonesia’s mining industry holding company, MIND ID (with Sumitomo Mining and Metals remaining as a minority shareholder).
- Advised Digital Decarbonisation Solutions Platform on their capital raising and subsequent deployment for greenfield development of data centres in North Asia and Southeast Asia.
- Advised Princeton Digital Group (backed by Warburg Pincus) on their acquisition and development of data centres in Philippines and Indonesia.
- Advised Big Data Exchange (backed by I Squared) on their acquisitions of portfolio and greenfield data centres (and related JV arrangements) in Indonesia, Malaysia, North Asia and the Philippines.
- Advised Macquarie Asset Management on their acquisition of towers and other digital infrastructure assets in Indonesia
- Advised private hospital operator Icon Group (backed by BPEA-EQT) on their JV arrangements in Malaysia with Sunsuria.
